About Sky
In HONOR and REMEMBRANCE of those who came before me,
those who are in my life now, and those who will come after me
Hello, I am Sky.
Musical artist name: SKYSTORM
I am the widow of a Native American man. He is in the sky now.
We “traveled” a lot (Native American word for going out to “see what you can see” - this is similar to the aborigine concept of walkabout or exploring) to different states including Texas, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, North Dakota. Wyoming, etc. When we were “traveling”, I saw a great many things and learned a great many things. I am grateful for that time.
I have since then (about 20 years ago) moved back to Texas where I live with my dogs (and outdoor cats, and other critters of course). Although the Creator did not see fit to bless us with children, I plan on adopting one day once my household is in a firmer position and the time is right according to the Creator.
My faith is traditional native way and that is how I pray. I pray the way I have been taught.
Nothing more. Nothing less.
I have much respect for my many tribes, but I will not mention the names of those tribes on this site as I feel it is inappropriate. I am just not comfortable with that. I purposefully do not use native language to describe this on this site as I feel it is inappropriate.
I need to make the following disclaimer:
-
I am not an elder.
-
I am not a medicine woman.
-
I am not a shaman.
-
I am not a native teacher.
-
I cannot verify tribal affiliation.
-
I do not teach classes on native spirituality.
-
I am not important. I am not special.
-
I do not have a fancy title.
-
I am just a person who prays. That is all.
-
I am just a person who hopes to please our Creator with my animal knowledge, art, music, and my medicine card readings for others.
The opinions expressed on this website are not affiliated with any tribe. They are solely my responsibility. They are my own opinions. They are about my journey. This should not be taken as any kind of spiritual dogma. They should not be taken as the opinions of any tribe or group of people.
I am solely responsible for this. Everyone in life is different. Everyone has a different journey. Tribal journey is different from personal journey. The opinions expressed in my art and in my readings are a reflection of my journey and not affiliated with any tribe.
My faith converted to traditional native way about 30 years when i met and married my husband. I have too much respect and love for traditional way to speak about it in detail on this site. However, I understand that this faith is not mainstream and may make some folks who are reading this a bit unsure or unfamiliar with it. So to give you, the reader, a bit more comfort with it and understanding of it, I will speak in more generalized, mainstream terms:
I pray traditional way. I do not take this lightly. I pray this way because it is how my heart and spirit speak with our Creator.
The way I have been taught to pray gives respect to the Four Sacred Directions, Mother Earth and Father Sky, but most of all to Great Spirit. There are pronounced elements of animism in the way I pray. In each corner of the Four Sacred Directions, there is an animal that is a guardian of that direction. This animal brings special qualities and attributes or perhaps a more proper way of saying this is that the animal that guards that direction reverberates the already existing qualities of that direction. For example, the East. The East is the source of light. Eagle who lives in the East carries our prayers to the Creator, who is the source of all light.
This is a very brief explanation with regards to animals and directions, but I hope it does shed a bit of light on it for you so that you are more comfortable with the concept if you are unfamiliar with it. This is a part of the traditional Native American way that I have been taught to pray. Any insights that it may give you, is a result of traditional ways. Not me. I am just the person who prays with you.
Put another way, some people believe that guardian angels help us in life. I do believe that, but I also believe that animal spirits help us too. I believe that each human (regardless of ethnicity or country of birth) is born with these animal spirits on their side, and that the animals help and direct our lives just like guardian angels, past relatives, elders, etc. do. My own life is evidence of this concept.
I am drawn to the native way as it is how my soul and spirit speaks to Great Spirit, our Creator. We cannot control how our spirit is meant to speak with our Creator. This is how mine does. I pray the way I was taught. The lessons that the animals have to teach us are never ending. Animals and their teachings (or observations of their behaviors like I did when I was a child) has been a reoccuring theme in my life long before my faith converted to traditional native way. All of this is a precious gift that I am deeply grateful for.
At this stage of my life, I feel very called to offer the service of medicine card readings to the public. Additionally, I feel called to help others interpret animal presences in their lives either through dreams or actual visitations. I also feel called to offer my music to the public.
I offer my animal knowledge, music and my medicine card readings to the public in service of our Creator. It is for Him that I truly do this.
Thank you and may you be blessed always:)

SOUND ON!
“I had a medicine card reading with Sky Ward and found it very revealing. I was drawn to the balance card reading and didn’t feel I had anything too concerning to address, but was looking for overall guidance as to where I was at at that time.
The reading did highlight an aspect that was a recurring theme for me. It has allowed me to do some more inner work on myself in that area. As a result, I feel a whole lot better!
I particularly loved Sky’s manner. Soothing, knowledgeable about her craft and very supportive and thorough in her card explanations.
I felt I was in safe, understanding hands and would highly recommend her.”
